Alkborough Primary School Early Years overview
In the Foundation Stage class we focus our learning around different themes inspired by the children’s interests. Staff continually support and observe the children in their play which enables them to identify their next steps in learning and current interests. The themes are then taken from seasonal events, the next steps in learning and interests that have been identified. We cover 7 Areas of Learning and Development as outlined in the following document: EYFS_framework_from_1_September_2014__with_clarification_note.pdf
Learning is achieved through a carefully planned range of play-based activities and adult led experiences, both in the classroom and in the outdoor area. Children in the Foundation Stage are supported in developing their independence both in aspects of their own personal care and in respect of their learning.
We have an ‘open door’ policy and welcome parents/ Carers and the contributions they make to their children’s learning. We aim for children to enjoy their time in the early years, to develop interests and to feel safe and secure so that they develop the necessary characteristics that will enable them to be effective and successful learners in the future.
